NEW TAKE ON GOAL SETTING
NEW TAKE ON GOAL SETTING
Our economy depends on consumerism
we are told to set goals, aspire to have new cars, bigger homes, earn more
money or have the newest phone. We are surrounded by images promising us that
if we look a certain way or buy a certain product we will be happy. But ultimately
what we’re looking for is not a product, what we are looking for is
a feeling we hope it will give us. When
we write down where we want to be in 5years,1year, 90days we often write how
much money we want to have, a holiday we will take, a dream house we will live
in, we rarely write a list of how we want to feel.
Goals are important they are like
a road map that tells us where we’re going and how to get there. But I believe
the most important part of goal setting is; understanding why you want them and
what emotions you crave.
Next time you are writing a list,
any list, shopping list, things to do etc., I recommend you also write down how
you want to feel.
I want to feel calm and relaxed
I want to feel passionate and excited
I want to feel confident and assured
Notice if the same feelings keep coming up and think about, why it’s important and what can you do to fulfill this emotional need?
Let me know how it goes?
